It’s kinda awkward for unmarried people to talk about stuff like sexual health or family planning. It’s just how our culture is—super conservative. People don’t really like young folks talking about sex, so everyone stays quiet about it, and that means a lot of us don’t get the advice we need. But now, at school, we’re starting to learn about sexual health in class, which is cool. We’re learning about STIs and stuff, like how if you don’t use a condom during sex, you could get an STI. My teacher also said girls should stay virgins until they’re married because they’re too young otherwise. Families usually tell us not to have sex before marriage, but they focus more on the girls. For guys, it’s easier—they can just use condoms. There’s this youth health clinic that hands out, like, 3,000 condoms every month, and it’s not just for the people who go there. My friends grab a bunch and share them at school too. Actually, my friends gave me some packs yesterday, and, uh, I tried one out tonight. Just experimenting, you know?
