Today, I found myself reminiscing about one of the most extraordinary experiences my country has to offer—the Gong Festival. It’s a celebration so rich in culture, sound, and movement that I couldn’t help but feel compelled to share it with anyone who’d listen. If you ever get the chance, you simply must come and witness it for yourself.

Traditional attire really reflects the cultural heritage of a nation. Here in my country, it’s increasingly common for men to wear loincloths. I imagine this practice evolved because, in the jungle, a penis could get in the way, causing pain or even posing dangers in the past. I came across an article discussing how, in some places, men went hunting without clothes, and they faced issues with, to put it bluntly, their penis swinging around freely. To deal with this, they devised a method of securing their penis by tying it up by the foreskin with a string around their waist.
